Hi, I am Lori Scharpf

My Personal Health Journey

As the founder of True Health FDN, LLC. I have a 25 year background in physical therapy, fitness, supplemental nutrition and I am a certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition practitioner.

I live with my husband Tom in Arizona where we enjoy traveling and spend our free time either hiking, biking, playing pickleball, kayaking, water skiing, snow skiing and RVing with friends and family. I became a FDN practitioner because I have always had a passion for helping people and I love being of service to others.

Over the last several decades I have had more than my share of mystery illnesses. My journey began 20 years ago while living and working in the Rocky Mountains in beautiful state of Colorado.

One day, I was cleaning my kitchen range hood using an aerosol stainless steel cleaner. Thirty minutes after spraying the cleaner on the range hood, I had started coughing and my throat felt sore so I knew I had unintentionally breathed it into my lungs. I drank some water and didn't give it much more thought.

Two days later, I was still coughing, had a sore throat and now my legs had turned purple! I went to see my acupuncturist who is a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner. He told me I had stagnant blood in my heart and that I should see a cardiologist. Well, I waited until after going on a trip to the Ozarks during which I had an episode of a stabbing pain in the middle of my back the night before coming home. I got up from the bed and walked around until it subsided and went back to bed to try to sleep but I couldn't sleep. I was afraid I was having a heart attack and thankfully I did not have one.

Because of that severe stabbing pain, I called my doctor while we were driving back home to CO. He told me to come in immediately and he would make an appointment for me with a cardiologist. It seemed like I had every kind of cardiac testing available. He told me women have totally different signs and symptoms of a heart attack from a man. After all the tests the results showed I had 99% blockage in the LAD, known as the "widow maker."

The cardiologist said it was not cholesterol plaque that was causing the blockage and after 9 months of continued intervention every 6-8 weeks, the cardiologist didn’t know what it was because it was hard as glass and it kept coming back. His assumption was that the stainless steel aerosol cleaner had to have a bacteria or some kind of pathogen in it that attacked my lungs and it ended up in my heart and caused stenosis in the arteries! He decided it would be best to do a coronary bypass surgery of the two arteries. Not knowing of any other alternative, I agreed to go through with it.

Then fast forward 10 years later, I was having severe PMS and then severe gut issues and then lowered hormones and adrenal fatigue, and then a thyroid deficiency. Metabolic chaos at it's finest was happening to me.

Stress will cause the body to function in fight or flight for years when we go through any kind of life crisis. The loss of a loved one, loss of a job, any kind of major life changes due to injury or illness or have any kind of mental or emotional stress. All of it can cause organ systems to have a cascading effect creating metabolic chaos throughout the whole body going down like a dominoes effect.

After doing ongoing research through the years I finally came across Functional Diagnostic Nutrition. I did my research investigating it and finally told Tom about it. Tom gave me his blessing and I went back to school to get certified as a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner. I immediately started doing the work on my myself and found myself starting to feel better and have more energy I hadn't felt in a long time. Once I started following the plan my Clinical Advisor made for me, it seemed like my body was able to receive the nutrition it was deprived of and I was healing my gut, hormones and thyroid all at the same time.

Now that I know what I know now, I often wonder how things may have been different if I could have done functional diagnostic lab tests on myself to find out what was actually attacking my heart? Could I have done a protocol to eliminate that bacteria or pathogen that attacked my heart? Yes. Could I have avoided invasive surgery and avoided years of metabolic chaos and health issues after the stress of the surgery? Maybe, but I do believe 100% that I would find the root cause of what was in the aerosol can that attacked my lungs and heart.

By doing specific functional labs I was able to heal my own body and turn back my biological age and find my True Health. I learned how to use peptides, bioregulators and other pharmaceutical grade all natural supplements with the use of other techniques and protocols. By making lifestyle changes I was able to improve and optimize my DNA to have more energy using specific peptides and other agents. I optimized my hormones, improved my immune system, lowered oxidative stress and environmental stressors, removed inflammation and detoxified my body to have fully optimized health. All of this happens rather quickly when the body is hormonally optimized first, without being optimized it may take longer, but it will work. All it takes is following your protocol and you will start to feel subtle changes occurring which will motivate you even more and eventually you start to see the transformation taking place right before your eyes. This is when you feel you can't place any amount of value on this kind of healing.

It was very important to me that I was able to heal myself before coaching and motivating others to heal themselves. Since starting True Health FDN we have helped men and women ages 19 - 88 have successful outcomes.

Through using functional lab tests, FDN's are trained to interpret the lab data and use clinical correlation for investigating the clients symptoms to find the root cause for why they are feeling so sick and tired. We investigate what needs healing first and then we can continue to help you heal your whole body.

My mission with True Health FDN is to help transform, educate, and optimize the health of as many men and women as possible.
